Narrow & Bright Dichroic Glass Pendant

This pendant is part of our Serendipity Collection of jewelry. It showcases what people love about dichroic glass: the colors are vivid, brilliant, and reflective.

To make it, seven pieces of “dicro” were arranged on top of a narrow strip of black glass. Then, medium-sized, clear glass frit (chunks of glass) were carefully arranged to run down the center of the pendant. The assembly was carefully transferred to an electric kiln where it was fused together at 1475 degrees. After the glass cooled, a silver-plated bail was attached.

The finished product displays the two very different finishes dichroic glass develops during firing. Where it is capped with clear glass, the colors are supersaturated and a lot of depth can be seen upon close examination. Where it is left uncovered, a rich, matte finish develops. They are different but equally beautiful. Note: Your handmade piece may vary slightly from the one pictured as no two are exactly alike.
