$119.00

This eye-catching piece of artwork is part of our Horseshoes Collection of equestrian home decor. It is 7.5″ x 8″.

With its instantly recognizable equestrian motif and brilliant color, it will surely find a perfect spot in any equestrian home. Whether you’re enhancing your own living place or looking for a gift for someone else, this distinctive art glass panel promises to be a cherished addition to the surroundings of any horse lover.

Creating it was a 4-step process.
Creating the Horseshoe: One of the bonuses of working with glass is that very little goes to waste. In this case, small pieces of dichroic glass, trimmed and saved from other projects, were used to fill a mold made from an actual horseshoe. The filled mold was placed in a kiln and heated to 1500 degrees, the temperature at which glass melts. All the individual pieces joined together and the air space around them was forced out. After cooling, it was removed from the mold and the edges were smoothed.
Selecting Glass for the Background: A rectangle of opaque palle grey glass and a slightly larger piece of clear glass were cut for the background.
Creating the Image: The grey glass was placed on top of the clear glass, and the horseshoe was centered on top of it and lightly glued in place.
Fusing in the Kiln: The assemblage was carefully placed in the kiln where it was heated to 1475 degrees, the temperature at which glass melts and the layers fused together.

Custom Orders: Send us one of your horse’s shoes and we’ll make a custom version of this just for you. Better yet, send us one of your friend’s horse shoes for a surprise gift! There is a one-time $30 fee for making the mold. You choose the colors and decide if you want it framed or not.
