To make the oval background and the circle mounted on it, pieces of clear, black, and blue dichroic glass were repeatedly fused, cooled, broken, reassembled, and re-fired until they assumed a deep, mesmerizing appearance. The circle was tack-fused to the oval in an electric kiln at 1375 degrees. When cool, a silver-plated bail was attached.
