Presto Change-O Dichroic Glass Pendant

$90.00

Yes, all these pictures are of the same pendant! It is part of our Serendipity Collection of jewelry and it showcases the qualities people love about dichroic glass: the colors are vivid, brilliant, and reflective. Also, the dichroic glass in this piece was produced on a base layer of clear (rather than black) glass so it produces spectacular color shifts depending on how the light hits it. It measures 2.25″ x 1.25″, excluding the bail.
To make it, three narrow strips of textured”dicro” were cut and assembled vertically on a black glass rectangle. A wide strip of clear glass was then placed horizontally over center of the rectangle. As a finishing touch, three horizontal, dichroic stringers were placed over the clear strip. The assemblage was fused together in an electric kiln at 1475 degrees. When cool, a silver-plated bail was attached. The finished product displays the two very different finishes dichroic glass develops during firing. Where it is capped with clear glass, the colors are supersaturated and a lot of depth can be seen upon close examination. Where it is left uncovered, a rich, matte finish develops. They are different but equally beautiful.
You can order a chain for it when you check out — you’ll see our most popular options next to the items in your shopping cart– and a bigger selection of chains and clasps can be found here.
Note: You will receive the exact pendant pictured here.
