Precious Blue Dot Dichroic Glass Pendant

$15.00

This pendant is part of our Serendipity Collection of jewelry. It showcases what people love about dichroic glass: the colors are vivid, brilliant, and reflective.

The name of this piece was inspired by a picture of Earth called the Pale Blue Dot, taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 space probe when it was 3.7 billion miles away and about to leave our solar system. It was Carl Sagan’s brilliant idea to take the picture, not for its scientific value, but to help people understand our relative place in the universe.

The pendant was made by covering a piece of blue dichroic glass with a layer of clear glass and fusing the two together in an electric kiln at 1475 degrees. You can order a chain for it when you check out — you’ll see our most popular options next to your shopping — and a bigger selection can be found here.

Note: Your handmade piece may vary slightly from the one pictured as no two are exactly alike.
