Creating it was a 5-step process.
Selecting the Glass: First, a square of streaky, translucent glass in forest colors of green and brown was cut to the size of the finished dish.
Fusing in the Kiln: It was placed in an electric kiln, face down on top of a few sprigs of clover that were harvested from the paddock of my retired horse, and heated to 1475 degrees. This is the temperature at which glass melts and with the hot glass pressing down onto the clover, the glass took on the texture of the leaves.
Refining the Edges: After cooling, the edges were ground smooth to remove irregularities
Refining the Design: Iridescent gold mica paint was applied over the impression of the clover to give it more definition.
Shaping the Dish: One more firing was required to set the paint and transform it into a bowl. To do this the flat, fused glass square was placed in the kiln on top of a mold and was heated to 1250 degrees. At this temperature the glass softened and gravity caused it to sink into the mold and assume its final shape.

The subtle irregularities highlight its handcrafted quality, giving it an artsy, boho look.
