This is part of our Horses Collection of equestrian art glass decor. The piece is based on a “catchpenny print” from the late 1700’s. These were popular and inexpensive, single-page, printed circulars which cost a penny — hence their name. Their subject matter was very broad, including everything from political cartoons to children’s alphabet primers. Of course, my favorites are those that illustrate horses, riders and other animals.
