Pair of Sparkly Blue & clear art glass trinket dishes 3″
This pair of small dishes is part of our Serendipity Collection of art glass home decor. It measures 3″ x 3″.
Creating them was a 4-step process. First, for each bowl, two squares of glass were cut to the size of the finished dish and stacked, with a layer of clear glass on top of a layer of streaky adventurine (sparkly) blue glass. Then the dishes went into a kiln and were heated to 1475 degrees, at which point the two layers fused together. After cooling, the edges were ground to eliminate irregularities. One more firing was required to transform them into dishes. To do this the flat, fused glass squares were placed in the kiln on top of molds and were heated to 1250 degrees. At this temperature the glass softened and gravity caused them squares to sink into the mold and assume their final shapes.
I hope you enjoy this pair of unique art glass trinket dishes. They are functional as well as beautiful. Use them to at serve small foods like candy, nuts or condiments, collect loose change, hold votive candles, contain paper clips, display decorative soap … the uses are endless. Both pretty and versatile, they are a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates the quality of hand made things.
