Multicolor Boots Dish on Pale Peach Glass 4.5″
This small plate is part of our Boots Collection of equestrian art glass home decor. It is 4″ in diameter.
We hope you enjoy this one-of-a-kind art glass piece. You can simply admire it in the plate stand we include with it, or find a job for it. Use it to hold jewelry, change, or keys. Place a small candle or decorative soap in it. Use it to serve dips and small food items. Whatever you decide, it will be a beautiful complement in your home or an appreciated gift for any horse lover who enjoys fine things.
Creating it was a 6-step process. First, a piece of pale peach transparent glass was cut to the dimensions of the finished piece. The boots were then applied to the glass by hand using special enamel paint. It was then placed in an electric kiln and fired to 1375ºF, the temperature at which the paint adheres to the glass and the colors develop to their deepest hues. After cooling, the edge of the glass was ground to remove irregularities and it was fired again, this time to 1425ºF, just hot enought to melt the edge and “fire polish” the rim. Finally, the glass was placed back in the kiln, on top of a mold, and heated to 1250ºF. This is the temperature at which glass softens and gravity causes it to sink into the mold and assume its final shape.
