Boots & Horseshoe Nails – Gold on Patterned Glass – 5″
This panel is part of our Boots Collection of equestrian art glass home decor. It is 5″ in diameter.
Creating it was a 5-step process. First, a square of iridized transparent khaki glass was cut to the size of the finished piece. Next, small clear glass squares were cut and arranged on top of the khaki glass. The two layers were placed in a kiln and heated to 1475ºF, the temperature at which glass melts, and the layers fuse together. The clear tiles melted completely into the base layer diluting of the base color and creating a grid-like, light and dark effect. After cooling, the riding boots and horseshoe nails were applied by hand using special mica paint. To set the paint and fire polish the rim, the piece went back into the kiln and was heated again, this time to 1375ºF.
We hope you enjoy this versatile, one-of-a-kind, art glass piece. It comes with a display stand so you can enjoy its one-of-a-kind motif and the play of colors. It can also be used as a paperweight, making it an ideal gift for anyone who works in an office, especially one with the ceiling fans that are so common in Wellington, FL. Whatever you decide, it will be a beautiful complement in your home or an appreciated gift for any horse lover who enjoys fine things.
