Tiny Shell Silver Pendant

$49.00

This diminutive silver pendant is modeled on the Calyptraea chinensis, or Chinese Hat snail, whose shell is shaped just like the broad hats worn in East Asia. Ironically, the shells are not found on the beaches of the Pacific or Indian Oceans. They are limited to the Atlantic, Mediterranean, North and Black Seas. The shells range from .5″ in diameter to nearly 2″. The shell in this pendant was molded directly from a small specimen, then backed with a patterned silver base and fused together.

You can order a chain for this pendant in the shopping cart — our most popular chains appear there — and you can find more chain options here.

Note: Your handmade piece may vary slightly from the one pictured as no two are exactly alike.
