$22.00

This dish is part of our Serendipity Collection of art glass home decor. It measures 3″ x 3″. Note: the photos show two versions of the dish so you can see the subtle variations that occur in handmade, one of a kind pieces. In this case, the confetti glass used to create the dishes is made also by hand, adding even more diversity.

I hope you enjoy this unique art glass trinket dish. It is functional as well as beautiful. Use it to at serve small foods like candy, nuts or condiments, collect loose change, hold votive candles, contain paper clips, display decorative soap … the uses are endless. Both pretty and versatile, it is a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates the quality of hand made things, either by itself or as a set of two or more.

Creating it was a 4-step process.
Glass Selection: First, two squares of glass were cut to the size of the finished dish and stacked, with a piece of “confetti” glass (clear glass that has bits of different colored glass applied during the manufacturing process) in spring colors on top of a piece of white.
Fusing in the Kiln: The two layers of glass went into a kiln and were heated to 1475 degrees, at which point the two layers melted and fused together.
Refining the Edges: After cooling, the edges were ground to eliminate irregularities.
Shaping the Dish: One more firing was required to transform it into a dish. To do this the flat, fused glass square was placed in the kiln on top of a mold and heated to 1250 degrees. At this temperature the glass softened and gravity caused the square to sink into the mold and assume its final shape.
