3 leaf Clover Trinket Dish – 3″
This small bowl is part of our Botanical Home Decor Collection. It measures 3″ x 3″.
Creating it was a 5-step process. First, a square of streaky, translucent glass in forest colors of green and bown was cut to the size of the finished dish. It was placed in an electric kiln, face down on top of a few sprigs of clover that were harvested from the paddock of my retired horse. In the kiln it was heated to 1475 degrees. This is the temperature at which glass melts and with the hot glass pressing down onto the clover, the glass took on the texture of the leaves. After cooling, the edges were ground smooth to remove irregularities and iridescent green mica paint was applied over the impression of the leaves. One more firing was required to set the paint and transform it into a bowl. To do this the flat, fused glass square was placed in the kiln on top of a mold and was heated to 1250 degrees. At this temperature the glass softened and gravity caused it to sink into the mold and assume its final shape.
We hope you enjoy this versatile, one-of-a-kind, art glass piece. Use it to hold jewelry, change, or keys. Put a small candle or decorative soap in it. Use it to serve dips and small food items. Or put it on a stand and simply enjoy the play of colors. It makes a lovely gift for any occasion.
